Cathedral ~ Puerto Montt

Winter 2016

I present to you the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral, of Puerto Montt. My partner and I went to visit my aunt this winter, and while we were there he obviously had to accompany me while I scouted for local churches and cathedrals. It is a Roman Catholic church that was first built in 1892. It was later elevated to a cathedral in 1932.

This beautiful building is made of "Alerce" wood, otherwise known as the Patagonian cypress, like most churches in that region. Its cupola is made of copper, and whenever the sun hits it it gives out a marvelous glow.

We weren't able to enter the church, since it was closed on the day we were visiting. So that will have to be left for another visit.

Take care,

Centro Cultural La Moneda

May 2016

During my trip to Santiago, I decided to go visit the Centro Cultural La Moneda. It was my first visit and I was lucky enough to stumble across their Ancient Egypt exhibition. When I was younger I was in love with ancient Egypt, the mythology and lifestyle being my favorite part of it all. It really was magical to be able to experience up close fragments of a world that fascinated me so much as a child.

There was a little side exhibition of the PET Lamp project, that I thought to be quite interesting.

The curator of this exhibition did an outstanding job. Not only was it incredibly informative, but it was also easy to navigate and visually stunning.

Fragments of pottery

These are makeup tools and trays!!

This last exhibition I wasn't able to photograph, but it was beautiful. It was a collection of photojournalism of the past 50 years of my country.

Autumn Date

May 2016

It was in this exact park that my partner and I began dating a few years back. It was a lot of fun being able to come back, especially in this beautiful autumn weather that just seemed to cast a veil of colors over a space that we knew so well through summer.

These ducks looked like beautiful water nymphs bathing in between the reeds.

Stationery Haul

May 2016

I went to Santiago, the capital, this month to go see one of my favorite bands Crystal Castles. It was such an amazing experience, and  went along with some close friends from there. I was also taken by some other friends to go shopping at what is known as "China Town". Once I was there I went all out with stationery.
I bought four Moomin cards, one small succulent card, two sets of totoro envelopes, a totoro pencil case, two notebooks, a highlighter set, paper dolls sticker set, two erasers, as well as six pens.

Summer Fair on Film

Summer 2016

I don't remember the last time I went to a fair. But I went this summer along with my partner. We took a disposable film camera with us (the same one that was used for the Cemetery on film- Corral) and had a lot of fun taking pictures. The only pictures that didn't have my partner in them were these three of me. I quite like them so I thought I would share.

I'm Back ~ Year of Absence

Hello, again.

I really don't know what to write, and have been postponing making this post for this exact reason. How do you pick up after a year of absence? I love this blog, but last year was a wild one. I moved houses, first year out of school, meeting new people, and a whole lot of more responsibility. I really don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line I left many things that I loved behind in order to focus on other things that I thought were more important. Looking back that may have been my biggest mistake.
Alas, time only ever leaves us and there is nothing we can do about it. One of the things I love about photography is how it can capture moments in time, by far my favorite physical form of memories. For example, the picture above: I was studying on my desk after a rainy day. My cat Hermosa, wanted to look out the window and keep me company. But she insisted on sleeping on top of my notes and papers. So I had to go get her that red blanket, put everything aside, and make space for her. after a while I found it so funny that I got my camera and took a picture.

I'm straying from the point. I'm back. And I wish to pick up on this blog, that I love so dearly and has been a dream of mine for over 6 years. I do have a lot of backlog regarding all the memories I didn't share in 2016, and this summer. Once I'm up to date with that, which I hope will be soon, I will begin posting more current events.

Thank you so much to everyone who reads this, take care.
